even in my dreams

Description

Screen print on mulberry paper, beeswax.

For example it is the spring of the year 1300 and you are Dante and you are walking through hell with the ghost of a poet, and your lover is still dead. But her absence is the boundary within which this entire mythology is formed. She is not in the world and yet through that absence the entire world, and world beyond, becomes her. Is created by her. Is moulded to her.

The airwaves, the heat outside of the fire, the breaths between words, Beatrice. It is not the object but the space between you and the object. We can feel the ghosts, but not the bodies. This is about the mud at the bottom of the last river. The absence of the thing is the thing itself.
